The History of Econ
Econ has produced software that runs on Apple products for over 30 years. The history of Econ Technologies started when it was established in Central Florida in 1991. It is named after the Econlockhatchee River, which flows past the site of our original office where all of this began.
Initially Econ created internal hard drive systems and utility software for the Apple II computer lines. In 1993 a client server software solution that runs on macOS was developed specifically for JL Audio. Over the years this system has been refined and is still in use today. In 1998 a suite of apps for quicktime VR was developed for VR Toolbox.
On October 31, 2001 we introduced our first app, Portraits & Prints, that was developed specifically for macOS. We followed that up with ChronoSync which was first released February 15, 2002. Since that time ChronoSync has gone through numerous updates and we have never charged for a single update. On July 29, 2013 we launched InterConneX for the iPad followed by InterConneX for the iPhone in September.
Econ Technologies is named after the Econlockhatchee River which flows through Oviedo. The Econlockhatchee River is also called the Econ River. The Econ River splits and the two rivers are known as the Little Econ and Big Econ.
The protected forest around the River in the Oviedo area gets its name from the rivers and is called the The Little Big Econ State Forest. In recent years the Econ River and surrounding area has been a big topic of development discussion in the Central Florida area. Hopefully, this is one area of Central Florida that will remain untouched.
